- Q.I. Press Controls (QIPC)
recently installed a new automation system on a printing press owned by the EDS
Group in Brasov, Romania. The order was signed in February and the press has
already been running smoothly and efficiently for a number of months.
Best conditions
In 2015, EDS Romania bought a
2001 manroland LITHOMAN 48S press from Sweden. From the outset there had been
problems with the automation and, in search of a solution, the company came
knocking on QIPC’s door. “We faced a bit of competition for the project,”
explains QIPC sales executive, Mathijs Baron. “Ultimately EDS came round to the
view that our systems and conditions provided the best solution to their
problems.”
Competitive price
At the end of the day, the
price-quality ratio had a big part to play in EDS’ decision to choose QIPC,
Peter Krummholz, head of processes and technology at EDS explained. “It was a
sterling effort on their part. Installation went like a dream, communication
was excellent and the new system works like clockwork, even on an older
printing press like this one.”
More efficient
Two mRC-3D cameras for
colour register were installed on the manroland LITHOMAN 48S press, plus three mRC-3D
cameras for cut-off control and two IDS-3D cameras for colour control. “The installation,”
Mathijs Baron points out, “meant that existing systems not working properly had
to be removed. At EDS, this brought about a much smoother production process.
What’s more, the improved efficiencies rendered by the new QIPC systems mean
greater savings when it comes to waste.”
Upbeat
Peter Krummholz is satisfied
with the new automation systems from QIPC: “Everything’s working as it should.”
If, in the future, there are any issues with the other presses, he wouldn’t
hesitate to consider QIPC. “The timing was good during installation, and now
that everything is up-and-running, functionality is excellent. We’re extremely
upbeat about QIPC.”
